Learning Hub

Practical technology guidance for business and operational teams.

The ITECH Learning Hub provides structured guidance for planning, implementing and supporting software, infrastructure, industrial IoT and managed IT environments.

Each section presents practical controls and questions that should be resolved before implementation or operational handover.

Operational guidance

Controls to resolve before delivery.

Open each guide to review the minimum information and controls required for a responsible implementation.

01
Software delivery

Before development begins

Do not begin development from a verbal request alone. The business need, users, integrations and acceptance conditions must be documented.

Requirement and ownership checks
  • Confirm the business owner, technical owner and authorised approver.
  • Document users, roles, permissions and the data each role may access.
  • Define required integrations, source systems and responsible third parties.
  • Agree acceptance criteria, evidence and the person authorised to approve delivery.
Release and support checks
  • Separate development, testing and production environments.
  • Keep source code and configuration changes under version control.
  • Prepare rollback, backup and incident-response procedures before release.
  • Complete operational documentation and assign post-deployment support responsibility.
02
Cloud and infrastructure

Before moving a service into production

Infrastructure must be designed around availability, access control, monitoring and recovery—not only initial deployment.

Access and resilience checks
  • Use named accounts, least-privilege access and multi-factor authentication.
  • Record ownership of domains, certificates, cloud subscriptions and administrator accounts.
  • Define backup frequency, retention, restore testing and recovery responsibility.
  • Configure monitoring, logs and alerts before users depend on the service.
Operational handover checks
  • Document architecture, dependencies, renewal dates and vendor contacts.
  • Confirm capacity limits and expected growth.
  • Test service restoration and rollback procedures.
  • Agree maintenance windows, escalation paths and service-level responsibilities.
03
Industrial IoT

Before field devices are commissioned

Field systems require verified power, connectivity, protocols, environmental protection and a controlled commissioning process.

Site and device checks
  • Complete a site survey covering power, network coverage, equipment interfaces and installation constraints.
  • Confirm device protocols, register maps, units, sampling frequency and calibration responsibility.
  • Design local buffering and retry behaviour for unreliable connectivity.
  • Protect device credentials and restrict remote administration.
Commissioning and support checks
  • Test every signal against a trusted field reading.
  • Record device serial numbers, locations, firmware and configuration.
  • Define alert thresholds, recipients and escalation action.
  • Provide maintenance, replacement and offline-recovery procedures.
04
Managed IT operations

Before support responsibility is transferred

Managed support requires a clear service boundary, accurate asset and user records, authorised escalation contacts and measurable response responsibilities.

User and asset checks
  • Maintain an approved onboarding, role-change and offboarding process.
  • Keep an inventory of assigned devices, licences, warranties and critical applications.
  • Review privileged access and shared accounts regularly.
  • Document approved software, security controls and exception handling.
Support operation checks
  • Define support channels, priorities, response targets and escalation contacts.
  • Record incidents, recurring faults, decisions and completed corrective action.
  • Schedule backups, patching, renewals and preventive maintenance.
  • Report service risks and unresolved dependencies accurately.
Need an assessment?

ITECH can review your current environment and implementation requirement.

Provide the current situation, users, constraints and expected outcome. We will assess the requirement before proposing an implementation approach.
